Coeur d’Alene’s story began on the shores of a vast timber and steamboat frontier. In the late 1800s, the city became the vital link between Spokane and the booming mining camps of the Silver Valley. Logs floated across the lake, ore traveled by rail and steamer, and the town grew around the rhythm of industry and exploration.
